Role Overview: Responsibilities for this position are to manage day to day operations for ShareFile Database systems and general engineering efforts fordatabasescalability, availability, security, and cost.Which Includes System Reliability: Own our SQL database systems and meet critical quality, availability, performance, and reliability goals. Implement and manage monitoring tools to detect and respond to issue proactively. Design and build the tools, frameworks, systems, and processes related to the operation of our databases and integration with Site Reliability capabilities. Automation: Build automation using industry tools (like Jenkins, Ansible,etc). Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools for database provisioning, configuration, and maintenance. Capacity Planning: Conduct capacity planning to ensure that database systems can handle current and future workloads. Scale database infrastructure to meet growing demands. Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks in database systems. Optimize queries, indexing, and configuration settings for improved performance. Identify bottlenecks and problems throughout the infrastructure. Incident Management: Respond to incidents promptly and work towards resolutions. Participate in post-incident reviews to identify areas for improvement. Security And Patching: Regularly patch database systems to keep up with Security updates. Manage Database security through the implementation of robust measures, access Configurations. Collaboration : Work with the development teams to design scalable, robust Database systems using cloud architecture. Drive projects/technical initiatives and architectural/technical service improvements. Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities for continuous improvement in database systems and related processes. Stay informed about industry best practices and emerging technologies. Your Superhero Uniform Includes: (Required) Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field with a minimum 6 + years of Software industry experience. Have minimum 4+ years of industry DBA experience with managing large Multi-Tenant database clusters, preferably MSSQL. Proficiency in one or more cloud providers, including AWS, Azure, GCP. Experience with SQL Server database upgrades and patching. Optimizing database performance by fine-tuning queries, implementing efficient indexing strategies, and ensuring optimal database responsiveness. Manage Database security through the implementation of robust measures, access Configurations. Experience with implementing monitoring tools to detect and alert proactively, Responsible for responding to alerts and outages. Design and implement solutions for high availability and disaster recovery. Build automation to perform redundant tasks rather than manually handling toil. Avoid logging into servers directly and prefer using automation and aggregation to manage them. Strive to be a responsible enabler rather than a gate. Your Superhero Strengths Include: (Preferences) 2+ years of experience withadditionaldatabasetechnologies likeAWS DynamoDB, MongoDB, AWS RDS, Hadoop, MySQL, etc. Good to have development experience with SQL stored procedures. Practical knowledge of Splunk or similar monitoring solutions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
