Position Title: Junior System Engineer
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
Assist in System Administration: Support the administration of servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, personal digital assistants, smartphones, software deployment, security updates, patches, and applications.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues across a variety of platforms.
System Monitoring: Monitor system performance and ensure reliability and availability. Respond to system alerts and notifications in a timely manner.
Documentation: Maintain and update system documentation, including configurations, inventory, and procedures.
Network Support: Assist in managing network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, VLANs, and wireless networks.
Backup and Recovery: Assist in implementing and maintaining backup and disaster recovery solutions.
Security: Implement and enforce security measures to safeguard systems and data.
Collaboration: Collaborate with other IT staff and departments to provide technical support and resolve issues.
User Support: Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software problems and assisting with software installations.
Research and Development: Stay updated on emerging technologies and trends in system engineering. Assist in evaluating new technologies and recommending upgrades or enhancements.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience: Entry-level position; some experience with system administration or technical support preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in operating systems (e.g., Windows, Linux, Unix).
Basic knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
Understanding of security best practices and tools.
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) is a plus.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
